Ms. Bland’s third grade class is using their flexible seating options in the classroom thanks to the Dream Grant! With a set of lap desks for the whole class, instruction can be carried out on the carpet. Learning together on the carpet reinforces classroom community and promotes student engagement!

First Graders at WPES wrapped up their unit on Jamestown and the Powhatan Tribe with a field trip to Jamestown Settlement. Students got to have hands-on experiences that Powhatan children would have done, as well as, learned about sailing from England on the ships. The guides complimented the children on their knowledge and the great questions they asked! Fun day of experiences was had by all!

Kindergarten students in Ms. VanMegroet's class are learning about Fall! Students painted leaf ornaments, and learned about pumpkins to get ready for our annual Kindergarten field trip to Holly Fork Farm.

WPES 5th graders entered a transformed music room this week decked out with black lights! This was a Spooky escape room. Students had to solve music puzzles to find the correct code word. They tested their knowledge of rhythms, dynamics, and music vocabulary as they solved clues along the way. Students were engaged and excited!

We would love your help in providing Thanksgiving meals to local families experiencing food insecurity. We are collecting items to deliver with a turkey. Items can be dropped off at West Point Middle High School or West Point Elementary School. Please see the flyer for details!
